At DNA 11, we've built a secure collection, processing and tracking system to keep your private information private. Scan the paragraphs below to assure yourself that our procedures are secure. Before you do, here are the four most important measures to consider:
1. An anonymous six-digit serial number/barcode (and not your real name) is used to track your DNA sample, fingerprint or lip print.
2. We partner only with a professional third-party, FDA certified, multi-million dollar lab facility to process your DNA samples. No one at that facility ever sees your name. They work with tracking numbers only.
3. All DNA samples are destroyed after processing and photography by our lab.
4. While the resulting DNA images provide a unique DNA signature, the image cannot be deciphered or reverse engineered. The image does not (and cannot) hold any forensic-level information.

DNA Portrait™ Procedures

Step One - As soon as your order is received, DNA 11 will send you a collection kit marked with a unique six-digit serial number. This number is used to track and identify your sample as soon as it enters our secure laboratory. Our lab technicians do not know who the actual sample belongs to, and can identify each sample only by its number. This tracking number is associated with your name and contact information only within our secure order entry database. That database is not accessible by the lab or anyone outside of our company.

Step Two - The lab we use is a large biotechnology company that is regulated by all the major governing bodies (FDA and Health Canada). They are experienced in the processing of sensitive samples, and must maintain the highest level of security and confidentiality standards to pass regular government audits. Once each sample is processed, it is discarded in accordance with a strict security protocol. More details about lab process.

Step Three - Assured anonymity was the first criterion established when we devised the DNA 11 method. While the procedures used to create your artwork are indeed based on your unique DNA, they do not gather or record any genetic information that could be used for identification purposes. Your DNA 11 artwork is a unique, artistic representation of your genetic code and nothing more.

Step Four - We use eight different probes in our lab method. While each probe has a unique DNA sequence that helps reveal your own, it is impossible for anyone to deduce which probes were used in any experiment, or what sequence they might have revealed. This final layer of security assures full privacy.

Fingerprint™ Procedures

All personal information is kept confidential and secure, and you can be sure that your identity will never be compromised. We have implemented stringent measures to guarantee the highest level of personal privacy:

  • Your fingerprints are handled only by our professional and experienced team.
  • We share no information with anyone outside our organization and the original fingerprint kit is shredded after we scan only the fingerprint you wish to use for your art piece.
  • We keep a digital copy of the fingerprint art piece on a secure server (not connected to the internet) for up to six months in case we need to reprint a copy for you. The electronic file can be deleted upon request.

Information Collected
For each visitor to our web page, our web server automatically recognizes only the consumer's domain name, but not the e-mail address (where possible). We collect the domain name and e-mail address (where possible) of visitors to our web page, aggregate information on what pages consumers access or visit, user-specific information on what pages consumers access or visit, information volunteered by the consumer, such as survey information and/or site registrations. The information we collect is used for internal review and is then discarded, and used to improve the content of our Web page.
